An original oil painting by Meli Axford
Oil & Acrylic on Pollycotton, 2026, 150 × 120 cm
#80 in my pool series
The Future Is Pink captures a gentle, unfolding moment along the pool’s edge, where movement and stillness exist side by side. Mia walks in quiet rhythm with her Doug, while Lily lingers in the distance with Polo - each absorbed in her own world, yet subtly connected through the shared space.
The vivid pink sky stretches across the canvas, transforming the familiar landscape into something more hopeful and imagined. The soft blues of the pool and grounded greens of the lawn create a sense of balance, allowing the figures to drift between reality and a more aspirational vision of everyday life.
At its heart, the work reflects my ongoing exploration of love, connection, and the environments we create for one another. Through colour and composition, I aim to reframe these fleeting, intimate moments as something enduring—spaces that hold both memory and possibility.
